Hybrid Car
Overview:
For this project, we were tasked to create a car using no gas or electricity. If this isn't hard enough, this was not even our main objective. It had to go exactly five meters. Five meters, you say, that can't be too hard. Believe me, it becomes a great challenge soon. So, myself, Shasta Parker, Sebastian Zarrehparvar, and Anthony Allen set forth to conquer to the automotive industry and take the world by storm. That was the idea.

Content:
- Spring Constant: This is the measure of the elasticity of an object. It is calculated with the equation k=f/x (spring constant = force applied/distance stretched) Measured in N/m (Newtons/meter)
- Power: This is how fast work is being completed. Calculated with P=w/t (Power = work/time) Measured in watts (w)
- Elastic Potential Energy: This is the energy stored inside of a spring of other elastic material like a rubber band.
- Kinetic Energy: Energy due to movement. Equation: KE= .5 x mass x velocity squared. Measured in Joules
- Thermal Energy: Energy created by heat. Due to Friction.
Reflection:
This project was filled with many highs, but also many lows. One high was cooperation. I felt like I greatly improved my person skills in this aspect. I tried to listen to others' idea more than my own, and I felt like I succeeded. However one pit was time management. We took too long for one design and ran out of time to spend a lot on the presentation. This design was a wind up wheel that went the five meters with ease. This was a peak. We worked well and made a great prototype on the first day. However, this design couldn't be translated into a working car. Another pit was having everyone be working on the project. A lot of the time, two people would work on it while the others talked. This slowed production greatly. However, at the end we built a working car that completed the task at hand.
